At the Long Night of Science in Jena, our passionate team—several young researchers, four experienced scientists, and one of our dedicated coordinators—had the pleasure of sharing the fascinating world of water research. More than 500 visitors of all ages joined us to explore our four exciting topics:

🔬 Microorganisms Underground – A journey into the hidden world of microbes in groundwater, revealing how bacteria and viruses live there and why studying them is so important.
💡 Raman Mystery – The Isotope Investigation – Using cutting-edge Raman spectroscopy, we demonstrated how bacteria can be labeled with special isotopes to track their nutrient uptake.
🧪 Tiny Guardians or Hidden Threats? – Insights into the role of clay nanoparticles in soil and their potential impact on water quality highlighted how small particles can have big effects.
🌱 Forest Soil as a Natural Water Filter – This session explored how natural soil structures retain pollutants and help purify groundwater.

Talking with so many curious and enthusiastic visitors was an absolute highlight for all of us! We loved answering questions, sparking new ideas, and sharing our passion for science. It was truly an inspiring evening, filled with engaging discussions and exciting discoveries!
